Garth acquired a joint controlling stake in Horizon in 2010. He oversees the firm’s investment activity and is a member of the investment committee.

He has contributed actively to the PE industry across the continent, primarily as a director of SAVCA for five years and as its representative on AVCA. He has received numerous accolades for deal making and was nominated for Business Report Deal Maker of the Year 2008.

Prior Experience:

Garth was a director of Actis for 10 years where he originated and led most of their landmark deals in South Africa. He led and managed a successful buy out of a mining services business for 5 years in the 90’s, prior to which he served at Standard Merchant Bank for 6 years in corporate finance, advising on and investing in numerous buy outs
